Burgers were cooked better this time. Cheese curds tasted better this time.

The burgers are funky, good variety on the menu, delicious selection of beer on tap, and friendly service. Count me in. However, Blue Door has it’s share of potential issues as well. Me being the dedicated Breakfast Burger person that I am, I will take all the good with the minor bad.

It’s worth noting that Blue Door is small with a capacity of maybe 50 seated. There’s nowhere to wait for a table inside, unless you like looking over people’s shoulders and drooling on their food (I do). So, in the cruel MN winters waiting can prove difficult. On the plus side it has a warm, cozy, local feel which I enjoy. Did I say share of issues? I meant issue. I will wait. And don’t worry, they’re open late serving up grub til midnight daily, so you’ll get your turn.

I’m hooked on anything stuffed with cheese. I enjoy stuffing myself with cheese. Maybe I was an easy sell. My second love? Fried eggs on sandwiches or burgers. Blue Door answered the call with the Breakfast Blucy (‘Blucy’ BDP’s version of the juicy lucy/jucy lucy, and a good version at that). Topped with thick cut bacon and fried egg, filled with cheese. Put it in my face. I like to top it off with an oatmeal stout, because I like a rounded breakfast.

I’ve also fallen in love with the Burger of the Month (BOM) which is the ‘Blucy, you got some splainin’ to do’ burger. I went to BDP one afternoon not feeling particularly hungry, but willing to throw back a few beers. When I saw that on the black board I was sold and forced my stomach to make room…ew, that wasn’t very appetizing sounding. Glad I did. Such an awesome burger that I added ham to my list of awesome burger toppings and now do that on occasion at home.

And if after all of that you need more of a reason to visit here’s a quick list of some of the other delightful belly-filling BDP offerings:

1.) Spam Bites – Spam, cream cheese, and pickle breaded and deep fried. Served with a side of sweet chili lime.
2.) St. Paul Sandwich – a sandwich consisting of an egg foo young patty topped with garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato.
3.) B.Y.O.s – Having a hard time finding exactly what you lilke? (doubtful) or maybe just can’t decide. You can always Build Your Own!
4.) Bangkok Blucy – coconut soaked mozzarella stuffed into a burger and topped with pickled carrots, cucumbers, red onions, and ginger. Served with a side of curry for delectable dunking.
5.) THE CHALLENGE: Try one of each kind of Blucy. The 11th burger is on BDP!
