La Croissanterie Figaro

Some time ago, I went to La Croissanterie Figaro for a date. A first-time date.

Never again.

The place was pretty as far as places go, but way way too noisy if you are looking for a nice, intimate little place to have a chat with a date.

It was so noisy that my date & I actually thought about leaving & canceling our orders. But unfortunately our waitress came back with our orders, so we stayed.

It was hard to hear each other & the place just did not seem conducive to any romantic moments.

We had both only ordered coffees, so I can´t testify to the quality of their food. My cappuccino was OK, nothing exceptional.

We didn´t order more, as we both wanted to leave due to the noise level.

I would not recommend Figaro for dates to anyone.

Want to experience a true typical French little Bistro? Try Le Figaro. Its not far from where I work and I had lunch there with a friend. We had the lunch table d’hôte:

A soup with lovely warm bread
Bavette de boeuf with nice rice, fresh veggies (broccoli, spinach, orange bell pepper)
Coffee

All for 33$ for both of us. And that includes the tax and tip.

I have been there many times to for a simple café and pastry. The decor is totally authentic and its a very posh place to see and be seen in Outremont, without being too pretentious (almost). I still have the lovely flavors of the bavette in my mouth.
