A Repast at MOK Proves to be Palatable
While I was staying in Clifton Park for training I made several trips to the mountains of Vermont and each time I drove by MOK I was curious about the number of cars parked there. The diminutive hideaway didn’t look like it could accommodate the amount of patrons that arrived in those vehicles.
A friend and I finally stopped in to see what the attraction was and suffice it to say we were not disappointed. The selection of drafts were enough to satisfy even the most finicky of beer snobs and the food? Oh the food! They do have pub food, sandwiches and such but I never tried it. I was drawn to their handwritten daily menu that in my opinion rivals some of the finer establishments.
My first meal there consisted of an appetizer of Ahi tuna, seared then sliced and served with a unique and very flavorful Teriyaki sauce. The main course was a succulent choice pork chop about an inch and a half thick with a maple glaze that would have sent Aunt Jemima back to the test kitchen. This, my first impression was a marvelous repast.
We ended up making the hour long journey to MOK several more times and on each occasion bringing additional people with us who just had to taste the victuals we had been raving about. No one in our party was ever disappointed.
The owner and his staff are very friendly and I for one never felt like an outsider.
The atmosphere is crowded and very noisy so not a perfect place to get some alone time with your date or hold a meeting.
Interestingly, each time we were there, we were greeted by people we had met at other establishments as far as sixty miles away. You can’t help but feel welcomed at MOK!
If I lived in the same time zone, I would frequent this jewel on a regular basis.
