Sweet Aroma & Rich Cuisine--Lemongrass
New Paltz, NY hosts many amazing restaurants on Main Street from all ethnicities. A favorite of mine when I come into town is Lemongrass, one that specializes in Thai cuisine. It’s just wonderful walking in and smelling the flavors before you get a chance to sit down and eat.
The lunch special is a great way to sample what this place has to offer. It is definitely a great way to get into the mood by starting off with some soup. The Tom Kha Kai is a great mixture of chicken, bell pepper and mushrooms in thin coconut milk. Tom Yum Kung is a hot and sour concoction with shrimp, bell pepper and mushrooms. I personally love the Tom Yum Seafood that features hot and sour flavors with shrimp, squid, scallops, mussel, bell pepper and mushroom.
I love getting the Green Curry entree from the lunch menu. It’s not spicy as some would expect but the flavors are strong with bamboo shoots, white sweet onion, bell pepper and basil leaves mixed with Thai green curry and coconut milk. All of these entrees come with steamed rice.
The lunch selection is obviously a smaller portion to the dinner menu, which has more offerings. It is still plentiful and reasonably priced. All of this cost under $15 with tip so I was pleased with the outcome.
I’m glad there are many different places to try in New Paltz because it feels like taking a world tour with such amazing tastes. Lemongrass definitely succeeds in that aspect.
