Manisha
Cozy and homey and just trendy enough
Great if you love Filipino food, or have never tried it before. It brings the traditional flavors in classic dishes to a level above the traditional mom-and-pop turo-turo places. Beverages, alcoholic and virgin alike, are carefully chosen to complement the fusion of Asian and Spanish flavors that typify Filipino cooking. I really enjoyed the special tea selection.
Our group of 12 went there for my parents’ anniversary and my aunt’s birthday, and the attentive service was excellently timed. It’s a smallish place in Soho, without a lot of street traffic, and well worth the departure from the beaten path.
Dishes Tried:
Black Rice Paella
Would have been 4.5, but they ran out of crab for our dish. 2 other diners did receive a whole crab in theirs.
Lechon
Perfection – somehow it was crispy and light and not greasy at all, completely unlike any other lechon I’ve ever had.
