Pichet Ong’s dessert bar, Spot, is hidden away underneath St. Mark’s and offers a moment of haute cuisine to the casual / bar atmosphere of the neighborhood. Although still very casual in attitude (no pretension here!), the desserts being churned out at this subterranean paean to Asian fusion desserts brings you refinement and creativity on par (if not better) than the finest restaurants in NYC (for which Mr. Ong has also worked). The innovative use of flavors and textures really create some of the most interesting desserts in NYC right now, and all in the cool, relaxed vibe of St. Mark’s!
