Delish!

I couldn’t agree more when it comes to real Thai, we live in the area and have tried many of the thai restaurants in the Annex along Bloor since we love thai food. This is by FAR the best thai food we have had in Toronto! It is delicious, fresh, delivery is fast and when you go in for pick-up they are quick and a pleasure to deal with.

I would recommend this restuarant to any of my friends or family because is how they treat you when you go in. We normally have the pad thai and have trouble branching out because it is so delicious, I love the veggie cause it actually have real fresh vegetables in it unlike all the others in the area. The chicken is fabulous too, and judging but the quality of these dishes I would order anything on the menu. AND the price is right! Less than $20 fo 2 servings of pad thai that are so generous I would recommend you save some for later!

Toronto thai lovers must always watch out for the shapeshifting scourge that is the mediocre Friendly Thai franchaise. When considering a thai restaurant, approach with caution and watch out for a menu section called “Oodles o Noodles,” a sure sign of the ho hum food therein. Bloor Street, in TOronto’s Annex neighbourhood, however, has quite a few more original thai restaurants, including Real Thailand near Bloor and Spadina, and Thai Spring Roll.

By contrast to the Friendly Thai, Thai Spring Roll on Bloor (there seem to be other, but differently owned restaurants by the same name) is a wonderful surprise of original and delicious flavour and texture. I’ve been here only twice now but both experiences were top notch; nothing was typical. The thai salad was not a soggy mix of iceburg lettuce and peanut sauce but a tangy warm sautée of tofu, thai vinaigrette, red onions and julienne peppers. I skipped the eponymous item, the spring rolls, on this trip, but I remember them being spectacular. This time, I had a chicken satay with homemade chunky thick peanut sauce, spicy rice noodles with colourful and fresh veggies, and the thick curry — usually the sort of dish that only comes with meat, but made to order with your choice of protein: fabulous with tofu and mixed in with pineapple and shredded carrots. Even the cauliflower in the dish couldn’t turn me off this savoury sweet and addictive gem. None of the dishes were candy-like, as thai food can sometimes be, each had its own distinct flavour and spice, and each dish blended well with the others and was cooked just right. Two appetizers and two mains was plenty for a couple, and the bill still only came to $31 with tax (no drinks). A fabulous experience!
