Still a favorite restaurant
Had dinner last Saturday at the Hilltop. Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere, with courteous, prompt service and delicious food.
Restaurant is separated from the bar. Les, the owner, is usually the on-duty bartender/cashier. Seating at booths or tables for about 70. They formerly accepted only cash, but now take plastic too.
Local reputation built on its quality steak/chicken/fish salads — considered by locals as the creator of this Pittsburgh-area dish — as well as the Hilltop’s fish dinners (standing line of customers often wait for available tables every Friday). State licensed for serving Alcoholic beverages.

Grilled chicken dinner
Ordered my usual favorite – the Hilltop grilled chicken breast dinner, with baked potato, salad & hot green beans.
Salad came first, of iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatos, red cabbage, shredded carrot, rings of red onion, black olives, & hot pepper, with their own Italian dressing. Served with rolls in a basket.
Main course followed — thick yet tender, juicy grilled chicken breast, foil-wrapped baked potato (butter & sour cream on the side) and tender green beans.
Everything was delicious.
