Dacha Russian Restaurant in West Village
We had a great time on Sunday afternoon (Mother’s day) in this new Russian restaurant in West Village. The décor is out of this world, wait staff is very friendly and they did everything they could to please our party of 16. There were few issues with service (I understand since they just opened) but food and ambiance were amazing. I loved the eggplant appetizers, beef / chicken shashlik (perfectly marinated and grilled) and their apple strudel. My wife and my mother-in-law enjoyed whole crispy fish (I think it was Sea Bass) and salmon Kulebyaka (Risotto and Spinach in Dill Caper Cream Sauce wrapped in light Puff Pastry). Kids could not stop eating their chicken wing pops and pirozhok (staffed turnovers with meat, cheese and potato). There were few new items that I’ve never tried before like frired pickles and fried green tomatoes – went very well with my favorite infused pepper and horseradish vodka. Oh Da, infused vodka was a great success – we loved them all!!! Overall it was a great experience and really felt like being on Russian dacha (we were served on their outdoor veranda in the middle of Greenwich Village).
